CSO honors Ebert

Chicago Sun-Times film critic and blogger Roger Ebert was honored Friday night by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

As part of the CSO’s popular “Friday Night at the Movies” series, the orchestra presented a number of selections from film scores for its “A Tribute to Roger Ebert” presentation.

Conducted by film music specialist Richard Kaufman, the evening’s first half sampled music from:

“Lawrence of Arabia,” “The Sundowners,” “Romeo and Juliet,” “Bridge on the River Kwai,” “The Mission,” “2001: A Space Odyssey,” “The Right Stuff,” “The Third Man,” and “Apocalypse Now.”

Following intermission, film music included “Ben Hur,” “Casablanca,” “Citizen Kane,” “Pink Panther,” “Two for the Road,” “Gone with the Wind” and “E.T.”
