At the end of another globe-trotting year, Chicago’s Flosstradamus — a k a DJs J2K (Josh Young) and Autobot (Curt Cameruci) — return home for a two-night stand. These electro-house-mashup masters throw raging parties and are pros at wrapping you, the audience, around their knob-twiddling fingers. 10 p.m. Dec. 22 and 7 p.m. Dec. 23 at Metro, 3730 N. Clark. Dec. 22 is sold out; tickets for Dec. 23 are $16. Call (800) 514-ETIX; — Thomas Conner

The hardy, “Battle Born” rockers are back with a tour boasting their Vegas roots — full of lasers, strobe lights and pyrotechnics. It’s December, and these guys release a Christmas single every year, so expect a tinseled moment or two. (Last week the band canceled several shows due to Flowers’ laryngitis, but as of press time the Chicago date was still on the books.) Tegan & Sara open at 8 p.m. Dec. 21 at the UIC Pavilion, 1150 W. Harrison. Sold out. — TC

These post-punk cast-offs prowled 1980s L.A. and peaked commercially with 1990’s “Bloodletting” (containing “Joey”), but they continued making solid music up to a 2006 split. A 20th anniversary tour brought them back together in 2010, and any opportunity to witness wild singer Johnette Napolitano should be seized. 8 p.m. Dec. 21 at Park West, 322 W. Armitage. Tickets: $27.50. Call (800) 514-ETIX; — TC

Multinational, L.A.-based Grouplove — with a great origin story involving an artist colony on Crete — caught on last year and has held onto a cultish fan base into its gritty, gut-wrenching indie-rock. Few bands seem to have as much fun on stage as these guys and gals. (This show was postponed from Nov. 8; tickets for the original date will be honored.) 7:30 p.m. Dec. 21 at the Riviera Theatre, 4746 N. Racine. Tickets: $25. Call (800) 514--ETIX; – TC
