The Cubs’ season is long over — but already we have the first Wrigley Field concert announcement for next season: Country star Jason Aldean will headline a concert July 20, 2013, with Kelly Clarkson, Jake Owen and Thomas Rhett.
The news came Thursday at a Live Nation press conference at Wrigley, with Aldean on hand, shivering in the cold and occasional rain in right field.
“A summer show’s sounding pretty good right now,” Aldean said.
Tickets go on sale Nov. 3.
He’s currently on an arena tour, which wraps next weekend, but this next go-round is a clear step up.
How does he feel about stepping up into Kenny Chesney-sized venues?
“Well, you know, your show is your show, whether you’re doing it for 40,000 people or 5,000,” Aldean said. “This just gives me a chance to do something bigger and better. ... Me and my band are pretty locked in with what we do. We can rock Wrigley, no problem.”
