Former “American Idol” contestant Chris Medina is ready to reclaim on home soil the stardom he enjoys an ocean away.
After his last scheduled show of the year, set for Saturday at Bottom Lounge, the Oak Forest musician said he plans to spend the better part of 2013 writing music, meeting with managers, and “shaking hands” with the goal of launching his first album in the United States.
Medina’s “What Are Words,” released the past November in Europe, peaked at No. 5 on the Swedish albums charts and No. 7 in Norway. His single bearing the same title shot to No. 1in both countries.
“It’s not strange,” Medina said of gathering a Scandinavian fan base. “It’s beautiful.”
See Chris Medina perform Saturday at Bottom Lounge, 1375 W. Lake, at 8:15 p.m. Tickets are $15 online, $17 at the door.
