SEOUL, South Korea — Rapper PSY finds his success with “Gangnam Style” so unreal that he wonders if he’s being tricked into believing it.
“It feels like ‘The Truman Show,’ you know, like it is all staged for a hidden camera,” he said at a press conference Tuesday. In the 1998 movie, Jim Carrey plays a man unaware that he lives in a reality TV show.
The South Korean rapper, 34, said he cried in disbelief when his song entered the Billboard 100 earlier this month.
The video for “Gangnam Style” has more than 270 million YouTube views and counting. People around the world are mimicking PSY’s horse-riding dance.
PSY went on a U.S. media blitz this month with appearances on the MTV Video Music Awards, “Today,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “Saturday Night Live.”
