Obama borrows Bush's Brooks & Dunn tune

August 30, 2008

The first song played after Sen. Barack Obama's historic speech on Thursday at the Democratic National Convention in Denver was Brooks & Dunn's ''Only in America.''

''Seems ironic that the same song Bush used at the Republican Convention last election would be used by Obama and the Democrats now,'' the duo's Kix Brooks said in a statement. ''Very flattering to know our song crossed parties and potentially inspires all Americans.''

Brooks & Dunn appeared with President Bush during his 2004 re-election campaign, which used ''Only in America.''
