DiCaprio bringing 'Devil' to life onscreen
Leonardo DiCaprio is slated to star in and produce the film based on the novel "The Devil in the White City."
Erik Larson's acclaimed novel The Devil in the White City is getting another shot at the big screen. Leonardo DiCaprio is attached to star in and produce the film with his Appian Way partner Jennifer Killoran.
The true story focuses on the lives of two men who turned the 1893 Chicago World's Fair into their playground. One, Daniel H. Burnham, the architect responsible for the fair's construction, constructed the "White City" around which the fair was built. The other, H.H. Holmes, was a serial killer masquerading as a doctor who is believed to have committed scores of murders around the time of the fair. Holmes devised and erected the World's Fair Hotel, complete with crematorium and gas chamber, near the fairgrounds. DiCaprio will play Holmes.
