How much does Paula Patton love her husband, R&B singer Robin Thicke? Enough that she gave her blessing to his romp with nude models in the banned-from-YouTube music video “Blurred Lines.”
“He’s just the best,” she says. “He’s always so funny and he makes me laugh all the time. I’m a very lucky lady because we’re partners in crime.”
Speaking of crime, Patton stars in “Disconnect” (opening Friday), about people who aren’t exactly who they say they are on the Internet. Next year, the “Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol” star will be seen in a remake of the 1986 singles-in-Chicago drama “About Last Night.”
Q. What can you tell us about “About Last Night?”?
A. I’m definitely not the Demi Moore character. I’m friends with Kevin Hart’s character. Women will identify because I’m his former girlfriend who has always been the Achilles’ heel. She’s interrupting his romance with Joy Bryant. They really let me go wild with this girl, which was a lot of fun. By the way, we didn’t film it in Chicago, but instead in Los Angeles. I would have loved to come to Chicago.
Q.“Disconnect” could be seen as a cautionary tale.
A. People have always been bulled. Now, the humiliation is so much greater for kids and adults who trust these faceless people we meet on the Net. But who are we really meeting? If you trust the other person, you can wind up bankrupt or even worse. Back in the old days, you could look someone in the eye and decide if they were trustworthy. What now? Are we all just easy marks?
Q.How is life with your 3-year-old, Julian?
A. He wants to perform all the time. He wants to be like daddy. He’s such a special kid. Of course, everyone says that about their kid.
