‘Jeff, Who Lives at Home’ ★★★

(2012, Paramount; R, 83 min.) Thirtysomething Jeff (Jason Segal) lives in the basement if his mom (Susan Sarandon), smoking pot. His brother Pat (Ed Helms) is stuck in a dead marriage with Linda (Judy Greer). Jeff believes the M. Night Shyamalan movie “Signs” contains signs that are key to the universe. During one eventful day, many signs manifest themselves in this whimsical, sweet comedy. (Roger Ebert)

‘Wanderlust’ ★★★

(2012, Universal; R, 98 min.) A kind of East Coast “Lost in America,” with playing ambitious Manhattanites (Paul Rudd, Jennifer Aniston) who hit the road after suffering a one-two punch to their financial fortunes. They’re bound for Atlanta, but first there’s a one-night detour to the Elysium “Bed & Breakfast,” which turns out to be a hippie-dippy commune where the music, wine, drugs, sex and peace-and-love doubletalk flow deep into the night. “Wanderlust” is equal parts fresh humor and stale jokes, but elevated by the presence of Rudd. (Richard Roeper)
