New choices
Cru Kitchen & Bar, 25 E. Delaware. It’s a new chef and new menu for the Gold Coast eatery. Executive Chef Alex Shalev’s gourmet farm-to-table American menu includes quinoa fries with pulled pork, fried egg, mushrooms and truffle oil, $10; and steak tartare with egg, celery, apple, pumpkin seeds, capers, pumpkin seed oil and arugula, $9. Lunch selections are salmon, rainbow chard and soppressata broth; club sandwich (roasted chicken, smoked ham, salami, herb mayo and Kennebec potato chips) or bow-tie pasta, broccoli rabe, cippolini onion and cloth-bound cheddar. Dinner choices are P.E.I. mussels, pernod chorizo broth and grilled baguette, Amish chicken breast roulade, confit thigh, oyster mushroom and Brussels sprouts; sirloin, smoked butter, potato rosti and fried egg or the bow-tie pasta dish from the lunch menu.
