Pop Music Critic Thomas Conner has worked in music and features journalism for nearly 20 years. At the Sun-Times, he's been Music Editor since arriving in 2005, as well as editing several Sun-Times features sections, including Showcase, Weekend and Sunday Show. He was Online Features Editor for three years for suntimes.com.
Previously, Conner had been assistant features editor at the Tulsa (Okla.) World after eight years as the newspaper's pop music critic. He created and produced an annual live awards show called the Spot Music Awards. Conner spent a fellowship year (2000-2001) researching at the Woody Guthrie Archives, and continues to serve on the advisory board of the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival. He co-authored a play about Woody Guthrie and Bob Wills and has contributed to books and articles about the Guthrie legacy.
Conner has been an adjunct university instructor for 12 years, teaching literature, features writing and editing. He's currently studying communication at the University of Illinois-Chicago.
