The Roots’ Questlove to release memoir
Drummer-producer and four-time Grammy winner Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson of the Roots is adding “author” to his resume. Thompson announced “Mo’ Meta Blues: The World According to Questlove” will be released June 18 by Grand Central Publishing. The book includes the rap musician’s run-ins with “celebrities, idols and fellow artists,” including Stevie Wonder, KISS and Jay-Z. It also tackles “some of the lates, the greats, the fakes and the true originals of the music world.” The Roots are the house band for NBC’s “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.”
Author and illustrator create Sandy Hook tribute
The author of the children’s classic “Sarah, Plain and Tall” is teaming up with an acclaimed illustrator for a tribute to the victims of the Sandy Hook school shootings. Random House Children’s Books announced it will publish the picture story “Snowflakes Fall,” by Newbery Medal winner Patricia MacLachlan and her longtime friend and former Newtown, Conn., resident, Steven Kellogg. The book comes out Nov. 12, and the publisher will donate a portion of proceeds to an organization that helps the Sandy Hook community.
