In the wake of the controversy over adult film actress Sasha Grey reading to kids in a California elementary school, it should be noted that is all part of Grey’s very studied plan to move into mainstream TV and feature films.

While her biggest non-porn roles to date have still reminded folks of her X-rated roots — the recent gig on “Entourage,” basically playing herself, and starring as the call-girl title character in Steven Soderbergh’s 2009 film “The Girlfriend Experience” — Grey reportedly is aggressively seeking roles that will showcase her far differently.

Linked lately to Oscar winner Adrien Brody — who supposedly is trying to help her land serious parts in several features — Grey is attracting notice from Hollywood insiders.

As one big studio exec told me Sunday, “Considering it was a sex tape that put both Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton on the map — this could work too. … The world has changed.”

KING & QUEEN: As we hear about a new album featuring long-shelved tracks recorded by Michael Jackson and Queen’s Freddie Mercury, I also have learned that Jackson family members have discovered even more unreleased music Michael secretly recorded — ensuring “new” MJ CDs will come out for years to come.

As for the Mercury disc, it’s been approved for release by the Jackson estate and is being prepared by Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor.

BRUNCH BUNCH: Window-washing czar and man-about-town Neal Zucker hosted the first-ever brunch at the new Pump Room — a fun, casual Sunday gathering of some of Our Town’s Very Visibles, including Leslie Hindman, Nora Daley and Sean Conroy, Shawnelle Richie, Robin Berger, Marko Iglendza, Alessandra Branca, Maria Pinto, Alexi Giannoulias, Les Coney, Carole Browne, Tim Garvey, Linda Johnson Rice, Courtney Thompson, Melissa and Ward McNally, Steve Traxler, Joan Steel, Sue Leonis, Joanna and Grant DePorter, Tiffany Kim, Brad Griffith, Roz Supera, Karen and Marvin Herman and Ron Huberman, who joked that friends are telling him he looks “younger, taller and thinner” since he ended his nearly two decades of high-profile city jobs. Huberman heads to Vegas this weekend to celebrate his 40th with his partner, Darren DeJong, and a flock of friends.

Also on hand was Msgr. Ken Velo, who shared part of his Sunday homily at Old St. Pat’s — clearly inspired by Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s recent debate meltdown:“For Christians, the three most important things are faith, hope and, uh, uh, uh … Oops!” quipped Velo charitably.

† Speaking of the Pump Room, when Zoe Saldana was a celebrity guest for the official opening of both the restaurant and the entire Public Chicago hotel last month, she certainly was acting like a single woman. Now she’s made it official, confirming she has split with her boyfriend of 11 years, entrepreneur Keith Britton, to whom she got engaged in June 2010.

SEEN ON THE SCENE: The revived romance between Jay Cutler and Kristin Cavallari still looked on track in recent sightings both at Public House and Joe’s Stone Crab, where TV reality star Kate Gosselin was seen with bodyguard Steve Neild (speculated to be her love interest, which they both still deny). … While in town for parents weekend at Northwestern, Meredith Vieira slipped into Sunda. … Holland Taylor, here starring in her one-woman show about the late Texas governor Ann Richards at the Bank of America Theatre, dined at Rosebud Prime — and tweeted how thrilled she was with her photo snapped by super Chicago photog Linda Matlow.Sinbad had fans happy to see him breakfasting at Eatt. … “Shameless” stars Emmy Rossum and Shanola Hampton, Oscar nominee Abigail Breslin and Whitney Port (“The Hills”) made for a busy celeb-centric weekend at Sofia boutique on Oak Street. … Port, plus (separately) Rossum, Hampton and some “Shameless” castmates also were spied supping and partying at Paris Club and Studio Paris, as were the Yankees’ Curtis Granderson, the Bears’ Lance Briggs, ex-Bear Jerry Azumah and Alexi Giannoulias. ... The Blackhawks’ Patrick Sharp was seen dining quietly at Fulton’s on the River the other night.

SPORTS SHORT: Fans of Bob Avellini will want to know the former Bears QB will be greeting folks for “Monday Night Football” at the spectacular new Deuces + the Diamond Club in Wrigleyville.

CORRECTION: As fans well know, last week’s mention of visa woes for Johnny Marr — leading to a postponement of Morrissey’s Chicago concert — was a big error, given Morrissey and his ex-Smiths bandmate have been long estranged.
