Ebert: ‘Grand Rapids’ best music video ever

A video extolling the virtues of Grand Rapids, Mich., has gone viral, chalking up 1.6 million views in a week.
After Newsweek magazine singled out the recession-racked metropolis as one of “America’s top 10 dying cities,” residents struck back and created “The Grand Rapids LipDub,” set to Don McLean’s 1972 hit “American Pie.” On his blog, Sun-Times film critic Roger Ebert called the viral sensation, which was posted May 26 on YouTube, “the greatest music video ever made.”
Via Facebook, Newsweek even issued a formal apology to Grand Rapids : “First off, we LOVE your YouTube LipDub. We’re big fans, and are inspired by your love of the city you call home.”
