Chicago woes for Charlie Sheen’s porn-star pal Kacey Jordan

Updated: August 4, 2011 4:20PM

The cry-for-help suicide attempt of Charlie Sheen’s porn-star galpal Kacey Jordan — which now she is calling a “publicity stunt” — apparently was instigated by her disappointing a mysterious Chicago man who invited Jordan here over the weekend for some kind of a hookup.

A source privy to Jordan’s jaunt to Our Town told me Tuesday, “It’s unclear what the guy had in mind — Charlie Sheen-type wild partying, sex or making a porn film — but Kacey and he did not click.

“There was no violent behavior beyond angry words, but after he left is when she began tweeting and acting crazy.”

Early Monday evening, Jordan tweeted, “those 16 hours i was with charlie sheen… messed me up … i can’t get that image out of my head … i think i keep trying to feel his pain.” She also tweeted about taking “a bunch of pills” and drinking a small hotel minibar bottle of Jack Daniel’s.

Those desperate-sounding tweets led Peninsula Hotel security to enter Jordan’s room early Tuesday, where they discovered her on the bed, surrounded by broken glass, and called 911. Chicago police rushed her to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for psychological evaluation — the usual procedure for possible suicide attempts.

† According to a close Sheen associate, the actor was upset to hear about Jordan’s tweets and actions. “Charlie hopes Kacey gets the help she needs,” he said, indicating Sheen has reached out to Jordan.

† Jordan first made headlines as one of the adult entertainers who were part of Sheen’s huge marathon booze and drug-fueled bender in late January — the one that eventually led the “Two and a Half Men” star to a self-managed sobriety program.

EBERTFESTING: As always, Roger Ebert has snared some great talent for his annual “Ebertfest” at Champaign’s historic Virginia Theatre. This year’s offerings include appearances by Oscar winner Tilda Swinton (and her “I am Love” film), Tim Blake Nelson (“Leaves of Grass”) and directors Richard Linklater (“Me and Orson Welles”) and Norman Jewison (“Only You”).

Ebertfest 2011 runs April 27-May 1 and also will include screenings of such films as “Metropolis,” “Umberto D” and Jon Siskel and Greg Jacobs’ poetry-slam documentary “Louder Than a Bomb.” Details: ebertfest.com

SET UP? While Ryan Phillippe is taking the high road — saying he will take a paternity test after Alexis Knapp gives birth to a child she claims is his — those close to Phillippe say the model-actress is taking advantage of him.

“It’s the oldest trick in the book,” sneered a Phillippe pal. “That old line, ‘I’m on the Pill … on birth control.’ … Who knows if it’s even his?”

Phillippe, the father of two children with ex-wife Reese Witherspoon, dated Knapp only briefly and very casually, and now is in a new relationship with actress Amanda Seyfried.

STAR TRACKING: Media watchers are closely watching Katie Couric to see if she re-ups with CBS as “Evening News” anchor (her contract expires June 4) or decides to launch a long-coveted role as a syndicated talk-show host, in a post-“Oprah” world. … Though Tom Cruise’s camp is laughing it off, Hollywood conspiracy theorists think the reason he lured Jeremy Renner from “The Master” (to star in “Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol”) was to help kill the now-stalled film, which offers a negative take on a character very much like Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard.

GOOD CAUSE: Congrats to the folks who gathered at Davenport’s to raise funds for Leslie Romero-Brown of Wheeling, who’s battling rare adrenal cortical cancer. The event, which Leslie’s brother Keith Romero of Bernie DeMeo Communications helped organize, was emceed by popular Chicago radio personality LaDonna Tittle and featured performances by jazz artists Maggie Brown and Joan Collaso.
