It’s peace at last — or at least a truce — between Halle Berry and her very estranged ex-beau Gabriel Aubry in the nasty custody battle over their 2-year-old daughter Nahla.
While the Oscar winner basically got everything she wanted, a source close to the negotiations says, “It definitely cost Halle, but after a while, she was willing to pay whatever it cost to make a deal with Gabriel.”
No word on what the male model was paid, but my source says, “What’s important is that Halle now totally controls her daughter’s destiny.”
That said, Aubry was granted certain custody rights by the judge in the case.
† The bottom line: The agreement means the allegedly lurid tales from both sides will be buried forever.
Said the source, “It’s important for Halle’s image to have examples of her hot temper quashed. ... It’s equally important for Gabriel’s own image to have those very racist and sexist views — far worse than those already leaked — kept from coming out.”
TAKING ADVANTAGE: The latest person to come out of nowhere — after many years — to reveal a so-called connection to a star is Reginald Chevalier, who claims to be a Haitian filmmaker and also claims Oprah Winfrey dumped him for Stedman Graham.
“If Oprah did drop that guy for Stedman, she sure made the right move,” laughed a longtime close Winfrey pal who should know. “Stedman is a prince of man and Oprah’s true soul mate.”
According to RadarOnline, Chevalier says he began a relationship with the TV queen back in ’85, after appearing on an “Oprah” show about look-alikes.
Reportedly, having failed to peddle a book about Winfrey, Chevalier now has gone to various gossip websites and tabloids, attempting to sell his stories.
COMING BACK: Friends of Demi Lovato say the young Disney star is taking her time to restart her career.
Reportedly very happy with the counseling and guidance she received during her stay at the Timberline Knolls rehab center in Lemont, Lovato has now returned to the recording studio.
However, it is expected it may be a while before she returns to her “Sunny With a Chance” show.
TOTAL PRIVACY: Sounds like Britney Spears has found the perfect “hideaway” — as in a place to hide away from the paparazzi’s cameras.
The pop star reportedly shelled out $29 million for a new Los Angeles home that includes a three-acre site, 10 bedrooms, a ballroom and a number of special features in the gated community that were a dealmakers for Spears. Those include a grocery store, gas station, several restaurants and even a Starbucks.
Even better — from the star’s point of view — all of the employees at those establishments have to check their cell phones (or anything that has a camera) at the complex’s gate, when they arrive for work.
BABY BEAT: Congrats to Rod Stewart and his wife, Penny Lancaster, on the birth Wednesday of the rock legend’s eighth child — and the couple’s second boy. Little Aiden Stewart joins big brother Alastair, 5.
SHAPING UP: Chicago fitness guru Sergio Rojas, the recent executive director of President Obama’s Council of Physical Fitness and Sports, has returned home to open his Redefined fitness and wellness studio at Jefferson and Van Buren — slated for a grand-opening celebration March 2.
MAKIN’ MUSIC: Pharez Whitted not only mentors Chicago Public School kids through Ravinia Festival’s “Reach-Teach-Play” programs, the jazz trumpeter’s “Transient Journey” album has been nominated for best jazz album at the upcoming 10th annual Independent Music Awards.
† Warner Bros. music honchos were so taken with the Chicago hip-hop/soul jazz band Kids These Days, they flew the musicians to L.A. to perform for Warner Music’s top brass. The group recently dropped its first CD, “Hard Times,” featuring trumpeter Nico Segal, a senior at Whitney Young H.S.
SEEN ON THE SCENE: The Bears’ Chester Taylor slipped into JBar at the James — quietly partying until “last call.” … Carmine’s on Rush was the eatery of choice the other night for Guiliana and Bill Rancic, and (separately) Tony Esposito. … Newly single NBA star Tony Parker was spied lunching at Bistro 110, where Eva Longoria’s ex-hubby tweeted while chowing down on a whole roasted red snapper.
