Purse-toting Bears fans: Pare down or go plastic

Leave the Louis Vuitton handbag at home on Sunday.
Those heading to Soldier Field must adhere to every fashion editor’s mantra: Edit.
When carrying a small clutch (NFL policy is no larger than 6.5 inches by 4.5 inches), maximizing space is key. Here are some tips:
If a small purse won’t cut it, the NFL sells a bag for $8 at mobile shops outside the stadium. The clear, plastic tote measures 12 inches by 6 inches and is likely large enough for fans to transfer the contents of their everyday handbag or diaper bag. But transparency is key, so forget any privacy when it comes to carrying unmentionables.
Identify what items are necessary — cash, credit cards, ID, keys and cellphone. After that, decide what makes the cut, and be ruthless. Many women carry a brush, mints, sunscreen, sunglasses, makeup and more in their everyday bags. Those goodies are unlikely to fit in such a tiny bag.
Try an infinity scarf by Sholdit (sholdit.com) with a hidden zipper pocket sewn inside. The pocket is the same size as the NFL-approved clutch, but offers a hands-free option to hit the game.
