Public art installation lines Michigan Avenue

From cows and ping pong tables to a color-wrapped intersection and that giant eyeball, Chicago has an eye for public art.

Make that a head now too.

The latest interactive art installation to grace downtown streets are 15 giant head sculptures that also serve as planters. The pieces line the Cultural Mile, the stretch of Michigan Avenue from the Chicago River to Roosevelt Road.

While each piece showcases an eco-friendly message, the 11-foot sculptures also engage viewers’ imaginations.

Think late-night television or the endless stream of post-Thanksgiving commercials.

Michigan Avenue is now lined with giant Chia pets.
