10 things to look for at Windy City Pulp

“In any given year, there could be almost anything,” says Doug Ellis, organizer of the Windy City Pulp and Paper Convention.

1. Copies of “Amazing Stories,” the first science fiction magazine, published off and on since 1926.

2. Magazines containing stories by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Dashiell Hammett and other famous writers.

3. Early detective fiction.

4. Copies of “Weird Tales,” the famed Chicago horror magazine.

5. Original artwork by pulp illustrators such as Ed Emshwiller and Wallace Wood.

6. Science-fiction art by artists such as Frank Kelly Freas.

7. Inexpensive reprints of pulp fiction.

8. Vintage science-fiction and mystery paperbacks.

9. “New pulps,” modern continuations of classic series as well as completely new stories in the pulp style.

10. Autographs from famous writers including Ray Bradbury.
