The rumors about California dermatologist Dr. Arnie Klein being the biological father of Michael Jackson’s two oldest children — Prince and Paris — again has become a topic of conversation and online chatter, in the wake of Klein posting a youthful photo of himself and a contemporary shot of Prince on his Facebook page.
The Jackson family has long denied those stories, and perhaps it was family wrath that led Klein to quickly take down that particular posting.Yet, even a casual look at both old Klein photos and current shots of him do reveal a stong resemblance to the King of Pop’s oldest son in particular. As my Hollywood gossip pal
Janet Charlton has pointed out, Paris more closely resembles the two kids’ biological mother , Debbie Rowe — Klein’s former nurse. In recent years, the onetime top Hollywood skin doc has fallen on tough times, reportedly suffering both from health issues and money problems since the loss of his medical license.
John Strauss, who won a Grammy for the “Amadeus” soundtrack — was gay and had been unfaithful to her. The couple married in 1950, had two children and divorced in 1975, after Strauss fessed up. He died in 2011. In her proposed autobiography, Rae wrote, “John’s secret confirmed my feelings of inferiority That I was less than a woman. … That I didn’t deserve to be loved and valued.” On a lighter note, Rae also reveals working on “Diff’rent Strokes” and “The Facts of Life” was a bit off-putting, considering she was “working in a job where all my peers were teenagers.”
Most people I’ve spoken to think the best actress race will be won by either Jennifer Lawrence for “Silver Linings Playbook” or Jessica Chastain for “Zero Dark Thirty.”
Despite the controversy over the torture issues in Kathryn Bigelow’s “Zero Dark Thirty,” one Oscar voter reflected a view I’ve heard from many: “Beyond the controversy over the film itself, everyone thinks that Jessica’s performance is truly superb.”
Helping both actresses is the fact their films (including Chastain’s new horror thriller “Mama”) have scored well with audiences at the box office — a fact closely watched by Academy voters, especially those involved in the “business” side of show business, like producers and studio exectives.
† While many Academy insiders told me “it’s anybody’s guess” which film will win best picture, the ones mentioned most frequently were “Lincoln,” “Argo,” “Les Miserables” or possibly that long-shot indie darling, “Beasts of the Southern Wild.”
† As for best actor it was unanimous: Daniel Day-Lewis for his amazing performance as our 16th president in “Lincoln.”
Film Office director Betsy Steinberg reports that just Sunday night and Monday, the following folks have stopped in: Ellen Page, Dermot Mulroney, Kristen Bell, Chicago natives Alex Beh and Haroula Rose, R.J. Cutler, Illinois native Brit Marling, James Franco, Lake Bell, Rob Corddry and Alan Leech — best known for playing Tom Branson on “Downton Abbey.”
† “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe has been seen all over the place at the festival, boosting his “Kill Your Darlings” film about the beat poet Allen Ginsberg. Radcliffe is amused there is so much attention being paid to his gay sex scenes in the film — especially since he’s currently dating his “Kill Your Darlings” co-star Erin Darke.
NOT JUST ACTING: Before Jeremy Renner became a star, the struggling actor made ends meet as a real estate “flipper” — buying fixer-uppers and remodeling them (doing most of the work himself), then selling them for a profit. Well, those profits have become a lot bigger as the Oscar nominee has more cash in the bank and the ability to “flip” Los Angeles houses in the upper brackets. He’s bought and sold about 15 such properties over the past few years. Similar to the remodeling successes and resales achieved by stars like A wake will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at Colonial Funeral Home, 6250 N. Milwaukee, with a funeral mass to take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at. St Thecia Church, 6725 W. Devon. Burial will follow at St. Adalbert Cemetary in Niles.
