After rocker Jack White made what looked like some pretty angry comments about superstar Lady Gaga, many folks in the music world thought another feud might be brewing.

White was quoted in the British edition of Esquire magazine as saying Gaga is “all image with no meaning behind it” — part of his long rant about the excess of style over substance and true messages in much of what is being produced today in the music biz.

While Lady Gaga herself diplomatically dodged any comment on the remarks, White issued a follow-up statement Wednesday, claiming his words were taken out of context and he did not intend to dis Gaga.

Though in the original Esquire UK piece White sure sounded like he was anti-Gaga, calling her music “all artifice,” he now has attacked the media for misinterpreting his words — calling it a case of “tabloidesque drama baiting.”

In his statement, White says, “I never said anything about her music, or questioned the authenticity of her songs in any way. … I don’t like my comments about Lady Gaga’s presentation being changed into some sort of negative critique of her music. … Peace to Lady Gaga and I fully congratulate and compliment her on her championing of gay rights issues and the momentum it’s given to help create change.”

WEDDING WARS? Sources close to Jennifer Aniston; her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, and his lady love, Angelina Jolie, are laughing off published reports claiming Aniston and Jolie are engaged in some kind of snarky squabble over potential wedding dates.

Aniston, of course, is now engaged to actor Justin Theroux, and Pitt and Jolie have confirmed they plan to marry “soon.”

A longtime member of Aniston’s inner circle said it best, wearily stressing yet again, “everyone involved has moved on — and did so a very, very long time ago. … These ongoing stories about supposed angst involving Jen or Angelina is such a bunch of crap. It’s simply not true in the least.

“Frankly, Angelina is so far from Jen’s mind, I think she likely has forgotten how to spell her name,” joked the source with a huge laugh.

HERE’S A REAL FEUD: The ongoing squabbling between LeAnn Rimes, husband Eddie Cibrian and his ex-wife and “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Brandi Glanville got ratcheted up a few more notches over the past couple of days. After Glanville told Us Weekly that Rimes is a “mentally unstable presence” she doesn’t want around her young sons Mason and Jake, Cibrian shared with RadarOnline an email he sent Glanville in which he told her, “I know your life exists solely for the purpose of living and creating drama. It’s a sad way to live. It’s so obvious that you have to constantly mention my wife so people will care what comes out of your mouth. … Although, I really don’t know how anyone can put up with your constant bull----. No wonder you have lost so many ‘close’ friends.”

† The Glanville blast about Rimes being “unstable” was part of her complaint that one of the boys became very ill when he ate one of the singer’s laxative “candies” — thinking it was merely a sweet treat.

MOVIE MOMENTS: A good time was had by all at the “Best of the Midwest Awards” Tuesday night at the Underground — put on by the Midwest Independent Film Fest. Among those on hand for the festivities was a large contingent of “Chicago Fire” cast and crew members — including executive producer Joe Chapelle, creator Michael Brandt and stars Eamonn Walker, David Eigenberg, Charlie Barnett and Christian Stolte. Not surprisingly, Illinois Film Office director Betsy Steinberg was delighted to hear them raving about Our Town — and how much they love working and living here.

NEW ROMANCE: Sounds like design star and TV personality Nate Berkus has a new man in his life. The New York Post reports Berkus — who launched his meteoric rise in Chicago with his interior design biz and “Oprah” appearances — is now dating interior designer Jeremiah Brent, fashion stylist queen Rachel Zoe’s former assistant, well known to fans of her “The Rachel Zoe Project” reality show.

HIP-HOP HITS: Music fans will have their own favorites, but the folks at Rolling Stone have just come out with its list of the Top 10 greatest hip-hop songs of all time.

Remember— this is not a BZ list. Take your complaints to Rolling Stone if you don’t agree!

From first to 10th, here’s that rundown: “The Message” (Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five), “Rapper’s Delight” (Sugarhill Gang), “Planet Rock” (Afrika Bambaataa & the Soul Sonic Force), “Sucker M.C.’s” (Run-DMC), “Mind Playing Tricks on Me” (Geto Boys), “Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang” (Dr. Dre, featuring Snoop Dogg), “Fight the Power” (Public Enemy), “Juicy” (Notorious B.I.G.), “Straight Outta Compton” (N.W.A.) and “Paid in Full” (Erik B. and Rakim).

SEEN ON THE SCENE: “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star Jeff Garlin was seen checking out Jellyfish, the hot new second-story sushi palace on Rush. … Bears teammates Brandon Marshall and Jay Cutler were spied hanging out Tuesday at Board Room. No word if game strategy was on their agenda.

GIMME A BREAK! Here’s yet another example of a goofy idea being touted by a couple of high-profile celebrities. Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have teamed up with noted artist Damien Hirst to create a limited edition of a dozen backpacks, decorated with appliqués of prescription pills. They are selling for $55,000!

Hirst — reportedly one of the world’s richest artists — is perhaps best known for offbeat creations including dead animals suspended in formaldahyde-filled containers.
