What made Katie leave? Not Scientology, Tom Cruise insider says

Get ready! It’s looking like the Tom Cruise-Katie Holmes divorce is about to get nasty.
After keeping mum for several days, Cruise’s team is quietly putting out an early defensive strategy — pushing back against stories the TomKat split is largely due to Cruise’s deep devotion to the Church of Scientology.
Along with TMZ quoting a Cruise insider insisting “This is not a fight over religion,” my own best source close to the action star also insists the “anti-Scientology stories are pure bull----.”
That veteran Cruise pal — who, by the way, is not a member of the Church of Scientology — confirmed that he never heard Holmes say “anything but positive comments about the church and it’s philosophy.” My source agreed with the person who told TMZ Katie “was totally committed to Scientology. She had enthusiasm for it and would voluntarily and gladly participate in it when Tom was off shooting movies.”
From my Holmes sources, a very different story emerges.
“This is just how the Scientologists work,” said a longtime associate and personal friend of Holmes. “It’s so insidious. They fight back in any way they can.
“Trust me, this is all about Katie wanting to raise Suri outside the grips of Scientology, which she has come to distrust — big time!”
It’s expected that Cruise’s attorneys will respond shortly to Holmes filing in New York.
And it’s virtually assured the highest-paid actor in Hollywood will vigorously assert his custodial rights with Suri — and his lawyers will immediately file to move the entire case to California.
