Before becoming Mrs. Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes once seemed to have a successful acting career.

Here’s a brief history of some of her roles:

1998: Holmes gets her big break as Dawson Leery’s love interest Joey Potter in the teenage drama “Dawson’s Creek.” The 1990’s classic lasted for six seasons, until 2003.

2003: Holmes starred in the critically acclaimed “Pieces of April.”

2005: Batman takes an interest in Holmes as Rachel Dawes in the Chicago-based “Batman Begins” movie.

2011: Holmes makes brief cameo television appearance on the sitcom, “How I Met Your Mother.”

2011: The controversial TV mini-series “The Kennedys,” starring Holmes as Jackie Kennedy gets dropped by the History channel before it ever aired.

2011: Holmes had a role in the widely panned Adam Sandler film, “Jack and Jill.”
