‘Conan’ No. 3: Four Abes and a babe in Springfield

Making their late-night TV debut, local band Kids These Days plays during the “Conan” show at the Chicago Theatre.

For his third show at the Chicago Theatre, Conan O’Brien ventured off-site in a taped segement from Springfield, where he soaked in sights and joshed with four Abraham Lincoln impersonators.
Abe’s wife Mary Todd was there, twice — one looking like the real deal, short and wide, and a far hotter version imported by O’Brien.
Back on stage Wednesday, a not-so-lucky female audience member — told that she would be serenaded by the singing superstar Michael Buble — instead was aurally assaulted by a surprise guest, comic Aziz Ansari. (He’ll perform at the venue Saturday.) O’Brien joined in, too. Suffice it to say neither man should quit his night job.
In the third baseball gag in as many days, Oak Park-bred guest Johnny Galecki (“The Big Bang Theory”) attempted to broker peace between Cubs and White Sox fans by having one of each simultaneously bludgeon a St. Louis Cardinals fan. Touching.
Capping the hour, rapping and brass-blasting Chicago band Kids These Days made its late-night TV debut.
