While Lindsay Lohan claims that crash into an 18-wheeler truck Friday wasn’t her fault — because the brakes failed on her rented Porsche — the actress’ “Liz & Dick” film producers are furious with her, as LiLo was not even supposed to be driving at all.
† Meanwhile, Lohan’s team is angrily denying claims by the truck driver. Identified only as “James,” the trucker told TMZ that Lohan’s assistant at the crash site immediately tried to bribe him to keep from calling the cops or reporting the accident. Lohan’s spokesman says that’s a lie and that the actress is cooperating fully with the authorities, and adds that the trucker was trying to sell the “bribe” story to the media because his own efforts to get money out of Lohan failed.
And there’s a competing project also in the works with Gerard Butler attached: “White House Taken,” which deadline.com says, like “White House Down,” is being touted as “ ‘Die Hard’ at the White House.”
QUITE AN OPENING: Drumbar, the new, hip rooftop lounge at the Raffaello Hotel, snared a hot crowd for its opening bash the other night, including “Boss” star Troy Garity; Seamus and Juliana Dever of “Castle”; “Underemployed” cast members Jared Kusnitz, Sarah Habel, Michelle Ang and Inbar Lavi, plus a slew of Our Town’s media and fashionista types. Spinning a nice mix, Chris Masterson, brother of Danny Masterson, was a popular fill-in for scheduled DJ Paul Sevigny (himself brother of actress Chloe Sevigny), who was forced to cancel at the last minute.
ECUMENICAL EFFECT: While Muhammad Ali continues to be a devoted Muslim, the boxing legend made sure he got to Philadelphia to attend the recent bar mitzvah for his grandson, Jacob Wertheimer — the son of Ali’s daughter, Khaliah Ali-Wertheimer.
The champ’s daughter told Ali biographer Thomas Hauser (on TheSweetScience.com) that while she was raised Muslim, and her husband, attorney Spencer Wertheimer, is Jewish, Jacob’s bar mitvah was completely his decision because he “felt a kinship with Judaism and Jewish culture.”
