Ooh la la!
Rocker Rod Stewart was once Buddy Guy’s valet.
“It was 1965,” Guy recalled earlier this week. “He was with the Yardbirds. He asked if he could ride around and open the door for me. He was my chauffeur. It was almost like Little Richard, who always had a chauffeur. I didn’t make any big thing about it.”
He still remembers Rod. “To me, his voice almost sounded like Howlin’ Wolf,” Guy said of Stewart, who sang vocals on the Jeff Beck Group’s cover of Howlin Wolf’s 1961 hit “I Ain’t Superstitious.” “You could never find anybody who could sing like Howlin’ Wolf. I thought he sang with that force.”
