After months of bitter squabbling, Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian reportedly are close to finalizing their divorce settlement. And I understand that while Humphries is not getting any kind of apology from Kardashian — or admission that their 72-day marriage was merely a publicity stunt to boost ratings for her reality show — he’s agreed to end the drawn-out estrangement that has lasted far longer than their marriage.

“Kris finally realizes he can no longer keep ‘fighting city hall,’ ” said a longtime friend of the Humphries family from Minnesota.

“The Kardashians are just too powerful and have too much money to fight him with.”

The NBA pro is said to want to put his supermarket tabloid wedding behind him and get on with his life — he’s sick to death of the ongoing teasing he gets from everyone he sees, including fellow pro hoopsters who tease him relentlessly about Kardashian. “It’s got really nasty since Kim went public with her affair with

Kanye [West],” added the source.

It’s unclear how much, if any, money will be paid to Humphries, who previously has said he was not looking to reap any financial rewards from Kardashian.

TAKING A BREAK: A guest at Mark Zuckerberg’s Saturday wedding to longtime love Priscilla Chan said the billionaire took two 20-minute breaks from the reception — approved by his bride — to hunker down with his Facebook inner circle to discuss strategy in light of the stock’s tepid launch Friday.

After those breaks, on strict orders from the new Mrs. Zuckerberg, no business was allowed to be discussed the rest of the night.

An added surprise for everyone was Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong serenading the newlyweds with “Last Night on Earth,” from the band’s 2009 album “21st Century Breakdown” — a song Armstrong said he wrote for his own wife of 18 years.

TAKING A TOLL: People at the Cannes Film Festival tell me that were totally shocked Sunday by the appearance of rocker Pete Doherty. “I did not recognize him!” said one observer who has known the musician for many years.Doherty’s bloated, wasted look was being attributed to his long battles with addiction, including heavy use of heroin, crack cocaine and other drugs — which clearly have ruined the appearance of supermodel

Kate Moss’ longtime former lover.

LET’S MAKE A MOVIE: It supposedly was a backstage chat at the Oscars this year between Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy that sparked a discussion about teaming up on a film.

Now we learn the two actresses will star in a buddy comedy directed by

Paul Feig, who helmed Plainfield native McCarthy in “Bridesmaids.” Bullock will play an uptight FBI agent who has to work with an unconventional Boston police officer — portrayed by McCarthy.

MORE TO LOVE: Jonah Hill may have packed back on those 40 pounds he lost to make “21 Jump Street,” but it hasn’t hurt his big new romance with Dustin Hoffman’s daughter Alexandra — said to be very serious. The couple recently vacationed with the Hoffman family in Hawaii.

Hill and Hoffman have known each other since attending the same California school but have only been dating for about four months.

TAKE A BOW: Ravinia Festival President and CEO Welz Kauffman has been tapped to serve on the jury of the 73rd Montreal Symphony Orchestra’s national performance competition this November — judging the finals along with Montreal’s music director Kent Negano. † Kudos to famed Chicago artist

John David Mooney on the installation of a 33-foot-high light sculpture in Urbana. “Spirit Tree” completes a park next to Urbana’s city hall — a meditative green space where Mooney also designed all the plantings, a fountain sculpture, the paving and furniture.

SEEN ON THE SCENE: Ludacris seemed to have a great time hanging out with friends at Market’s rooftop, as did the Atlanta Hawks’ Joe Johnson. … Newly retired Kerry Wood, Chris Chelios and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder were spotted schmoozing with Cedar Hotel’s owner Tim Hendricks. … Taking a break from his official NATO duties, Turkish President Abdullah Gul dined at Cantina Laredo in River North. … Cindy Crawford checked out Paris Club, then headed upstairs to Studio Paris to par -tay. … Crawford also brunched with famed photographer Victor Skrebneski at RL.
