While in New York over the weekend, I checked in with a good Jennifer Lopez source who adds her voice to the chorus claiming J. Lo is seriously looking at another walk down the aisle — with current love Casper Smart.

The veteran Lopez observer said the recent promotion of Smart from backup dancer to J. Lo’s lead choreographer is further evidence of the entertainment queen’s desire to make her main man “more respectable and more of an equal” in the eyes of both her personal team and the public at large.

The source noted that Smart is just that — very wise, especially when it comes to his relationship with Lopez.

“He knows when to bend and when to stand up to her. He’s very savvy about handling women in general,” said the Lopez pal with a big grin.

This longtime friend of Lopez — back when she was “Jenny from the Block” — adds, “Jennifer also wants to have another baby,” this time with Smart. From our chat, don’t be surprised if there’s both another marriage and child on J. Lo’s schedule within the next year — or less.

MORE ROMANCE: More than a few folks close to Kim Kardashian are worrying about the acceleration of the reality TV star’s new involvement with Kanye West . “Kim, like all of the Kardashians, is in love with the idea of being in love and being married. ... This is simply going way too fast, especially with someone like Kanye, who is so mercurial,” said a KK friend.

HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD: Local folks who were fans of Michelle Alegria when she was on the “190 North” TV magazine show on WLS-Channel 7 may want to know Alegria’s move to Los Angeles in late 2010 to pursue an acting career has begun to pay off. She’s been cast as a TV reporter in the upcoming

Sofia Coppola film “The Bling Ring,” starring “Harry Potter” co-star Emma Watson and another young Chicago actress, Katie Chang. The movie is based on the recent true story about fame-obsessed Southern California teens who use the Internet to track down stars’ homes in order to rob them.

LAUGH TRACK: Steve Lenz , the long-suffering “Phone Monkey” aide to Kelsey Grammer on “Boss,” will be the guest monologist Monday for iO Theatre’s long-running “Armando” show. Lenz also will appear in the “Thor 2” sequel, starring Chris Hemsworth — due out next year — and was in the hit play “Hit the Wall,” which recently closed at Steppenwolf.

GEM OF A NIGHT: Candace Jordan was excited she got to wear the $101,000 brown diamond Pomellato “Tango” bracelet Sunday night for the Joffrey Ballet Women’s Board’s 10th anniversary gala, which Jordan co-chaired with Helen Melchior. But there was an added celebrity twist to that gorgeous bauble. It most recently had been sparkling on Jennifer Lopez’s wrist on “American Idol.”

Among the 800-plus supporters of Joffrey who helped raise more than $1.2 million Sunday was Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who joked about not being “a Philistine” when it came to the arts — given he spent the weekend at Steppenwolf and Chicago Symphony events as well as the Joffrey. Rahm, a former dancer, reminded everyone he had been awarded a Joffrey scholarship — back in the day.

SEEN ON THE SCENE: “Parks and Recreation” star Aziz Ansari and bigtime DJ Tiesto were seen enjoying magnums of champagne Friday at Board Room. … Yes, that was Steven Spielberg spied at the Vertigo Sky Lounge at the Dana Hotel on Saturday night. ... Donovan McNabb was among the brunch bunch Saturday at Market.
