I know. I know.

Justin Bieber and girlfriend Selena Gomez are very young, and their people laugh off the suggestion of a pending wedding. But several people close to the superstar couple say they’re convinced an engagement is in the very near future.

The teen idols were spied closely eyeing some pricy bling in a couple of major jewelry stores — especially major diamond baubles that could only be described as the kind usually slipped on a woman’s left-hand ring finger.

Bieber is 18, and Gomez is 19.

GETTING MORE REAL: It’s clear the reality TV juggernaut is not going away anytime soon — especially shows dealing with romance and relationships.

Part-time Chicagoans Giuliana and Bill Rancic have been tapped to co-host “Ready for Love,” produced by “Desperate Housewives” star Eva Longoria. The NBC series will feature three successful, good-looking businessmen — selected by Longoria — who will be teamed with three matchmakers to help them find that special lady. Women will apply to be considered by using a Facebook app.

ACROSS THE POND: Word has it, French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy won’t be all that heartbroken if her husband, Nicolas Sarkozy, is not re-elected president of France on Sunday.

A Parisian pal of mine who has known Madame Bruni-Sarkozy for many years says she is eager to tackle a number of acting and singing projects she has had to postpone due to her husband’s public role as the French head of state.

LET’S MAKE A DEAL! According to those privy to the negotiating style of Sarah Palin as she helped craft daughter Bristol’s deal for her upcoming “Life’s a Tripp” reality show on Lifetime, the ex-GOP vice presidential candidate is one tough negotiator.

“If she wanted to, Sarah could carve out a very nice career as one heck of a Hollywood agent,” laughed the Lifetime staffer. “She was unyielding!”

SPLITSVILLE: While Elisabetta Canalis’ constant partying bothered “Jackass” star Steve-O — who worried it might threaten his daily challenges to maintain his sobriety — I hear there was more to the couple’s breakup after a three-month affair.

“Steve-O just got tired of Elisabetta being such a diva. She is just too high-maintenance,” one of his friends said about the former “Dancing With the Stars” competitor and ex-girlfrined of George Clooney.

SEEN ON THE SCENE: Chicago native Matt Walsh (“The Hangover,” “Old School”) slipped into Harry Caray’s on Kinzie this week while here visiting family — and boosting Sunday’s debut of “Veep” on HBO. … Oscar winner and North Shore native Marlee Matlin, also back home this week, was spied checking out new hotspot RPM Italian, which she happily tweeted was “the BOMB!”

MAKIN’ MUSIC: After Human Nature performs on the Motown-themed episode of “Dancing With the Stars” Monday, the group will bring “The Motown Show” to our area for an April 29 gig at the Akoo Theatre in Rosemont — part of Human Nature’s first U.S. tour.

† Fans of the Chicago duo Beckie Menzie and Tom Michael have only two more chances to catch their “All in the Musical Family” show at Davenport’s in Wicker Park — this Saturday and the following Saturday, April 28. The program is a tribute to an eclectic array of musical families, including the Jacksons, Carpenters, Bee Gees and Gershwins.

† “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson is hoping to introduce recently eliminated “Idol” competitor DeAndre Brackensick to the King of Pop’s daughter, Paris Jackson, who reportedly has said she thinks DeAndre is “very cute.”
