New Kanye West video, from puppets to cartoon bears

August 26, 2008

Kanye West's new video, "Good Morning," from YouTube

Kanye West's new music video hit iTunes today — and it's yet another short film with a childlike bent.

Just a few weeks after releasing a puppet-driven video for "Champion" (timed for the Olympics), the Chicago rapper is back with the monotone "Good Morning" — and a completely animated video.

The video portrays West as a cuddly bear who misses his train (it's a futuristic cityscape, but the train looks exactly like a Brown Line) but overcomes other obstacles to reach his graduation ceremony and receive a diploma.

The video is directed by Takashi Murakami, a Japanese artist who provided cover art for West's "Graduation" CD.
