White House to welcome the blues

Updated: March 15, 2012 8:12AM

The White House is opening its doors in an invitation to the blues.

Jeff Beck, Mick Jagger, B.B. King and Keb Mo are among an A-list of artists who will perform Feb. 21 at the White House to celebrate blues music and recognize Black History Month.

President Barack Obama will deliver remarks at the event, which includes at least one act from his adopted hometown: Chicago bluesman Buddy Guy.

“In Performance at the White House: Red, White and Blues” will be live streamed on the White House Web site, www.whitehouse.gov/live, and air Feb. 27 on PBS stations.

Obama and his wife, Michelle, have opened the White House to a number of “In Performance” programs that have showcased Hispanic, Broadway and country music, among others.
