/ (aw dee home) / n. The old, but still used, name for the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center at Roosevelt and Odgen. The youth court and jail complex was named for Arthur J. Audy, its superintendent from 1940 until his death from a heart attack in 1950 at age 38. The Arthur J. Audy Home for Children has been used by adults as a threat for years. "Keep it up and you'll end up at the Audy Home."
