Sox Park
Sox Park / sahhx PAHRK / n. 1. Stripped-down, tough-guy name for the home ballpark of the Chicago White Sox -- corporate naming rights notwithstanding. As in: "Yooz can keep yer rat-infested Wrigley -- we got Sox Park. And we know what inning it is." The old Comiskey Park at 35th and Shields was briefly called White Sox Park beginning in 1910, and again in the 1960s and '70s. Other common ways to avoid acknowledging the park's formal name -- U.S. Cellular Field -- include calling it Comiskey (or the alternative pronunciation Kaminski) or The Cell.
