The squeeze is on. Maybe you’ve felt it if you are an office worker. The boss nowadays barely gives you desk space for the computer, writes columnist David Roeder in Grid.
"Forget about your favorite lamp or the pictures from last year’s fishing trip. And you might find yourself in tighter proximity to your co-workers, to the point where you know a little too much about their personal business. Companies are compressing the workplace, especially in high-demand urban areas such as Chicago. The trend is starting to show up in the statistics for office usage — not that landlords have any reason to panic."
