Chicago-based Ebony magazine will salute top African-American women in advertising, corporate marketing, journalism and public relations at its ninth annual Ebony Outstanding Women in Marketing and Communications Awards luncheon on May 1, at the Cipriani restaurant in New York City. Mellody Hobson, president of Chicago-based Ariel Mutual Funds, will receive the Madam C.J. Walker Award, given out to recognize women who are trailblazers in the fields of marketing and communications. Other honorees include McGhee Williams Osse of Burrell Communications/Chicago, Marvet Britto of the Britto Agency, Patti Webster of W&W Public Relations, Zeline Kelly-Bates of Beaman Inc., Carla Harris of Morgan Stanley, Susan Banks of TV One, Nadja Fidelia of Lehman Bros., Lyne Pitts of NBC News and Robin Givhan of the Washington Post.
Chicago native and No. 1 WNBA draft pick Candace Parker of the Los Angeles Sparks has joined Gatorade's starry list of athlete endorsers, including Mia Hamm, Maria Sharapova, Abby Wambach and Kerri Walsh. This is Parker's first endorsement deal and the first WNBA rookie ever signed by Gatorade.

The Chicago Council of the American Association of Advertising Agencies has launched its new College Ambassador program following a successful test run a six universities in the Midwest. The program was established to raise the profile of the Chicago agency market and help attract top recruits to the local ad industry after graduation.
Susan Wolfe has been promoted to senior vice president of GolinHarris' consumer brands practice. She will continue her leadership role on the Florida Department of Citrus account, as well as other key consumer brand clients. Prior to joining GolinHarris, Wolfe managed public relations for the United States Foods division of PepsiCo Beverages & Foods.
