Chris Whitehead biography

Chris Whitehead writes the Casual Friday column for the Chicago Sun-Times Business section.

A former copy editor, he also is the chief designer of the Business section's pages.

Whitehead, who has been writing Casual Friday since 1999, began his career with Publishers-Hall Syndicate, later Field Newspaper Syndicate, which were owned by the Sun-Times.

He joined the newspaper's wire service, the Sun-Times/Daily News Wire Service, later Field News Service and World News Service, as an editor when the Syndicate moved to California.

He has worked as a copy editor, for the main copy desk and then the Business section, since 1979.

A longtime Chicago resident, he is married, has two daughters, two bicycles, no car and one cat.
