Chicago tech company supplies security for King memorial

Updated: November 3, 2011 5:55PM

A downtown Chicago technology company set up a security system to safeguard the new Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. memorial in Washington, D.C., and the visitors’ center on the 4-acre site.

SDI, an $35-million company that employs 150 in Chicago, set up security cameras and integrated the security system with that of the National Parks Police’s operations center. The company declined to say how much it was paid for the work.

The project led to SDI opening a new office in Washington, D.C.

“SDI is honored to provide this sophisticated security solution for what will become an iconic part of our nation’s infrastructure,” said Mark Moscinski, SDI senior vice president of safety and security.
