While Groupon founder Andrew Mason and his bride-to-be Jenny Gillespie set up their wedding registry at Peppercorn.com on Monday, reports surfaced that Groupon has registered domain names with “Groupon Goods” in the title — setting off a TechCrunch columnist’s speculation that Groupon could start selling groceries, pet supplies, consumer electronics and other products to compete against Amazon.com.
A Groupon spokeswoman had no comment Monday on the Groupon Goods report. The registry shows that Mason and singer-songwriter Gillespie plan an Oct. 1 wedding.
