Benefits, perks offered by some companies

Here are some benefits and perks offered:

KPMG. U.S. employees get 12 paid hours to volunteer each year and can leave at 3 p.m. Fridays in the summer.

Chesapeake Energy. An on-site medical center offers dermatology services including cancer screenings, lesion removal and Botox injections. Its fitness center has seven tanning beds and spray tanning services.

DPR Construction. A wine bar is installed in all 17 of the company’s offices where employees toast major accomplishments or a project’s completion. One branch features an in-house saloon.

Cisco. A car care company is brought to the office twice week. Employees can leave their cars with mechanics for an oil change while they work.

Umpqya Bank. Employees get 40 hours of paid time off every year to do volunteer work.

Box.net. New hires get three months to explore and get trained in the company’s marketing, support and administrative departments and then choose what department they feel is the best fit for them.

SAS. On-site health care, summer camp for kids, car cleaning, a beauty salon and a 66,000 square-foot gym.

Namaste’ Solar. Decisions at the employee-owned company are made based on a one-person, one vote rule. Employees voted to reject offers to buy the company in 2008.

Microsoft. The company campus includes a shopping mall with 23 shops and restaurants, a spa, bicycle repair shop and a pub. Employee perks include free drycleaning, a Wi-Fi enabled shuttle service and valet parking at some buildings.

Qualcomm. A New York chef oversees its employee cafes, which feature fresh foods sourced from local farmers and no canned foods.

Camden Property Trust. At the apartment management firm staffers can rent furnished apartments for $20 a night for use on personal vacations at sites including, Orlando, San Diego and Denver.
