Mariano’s Fresh Market is hiring 900 workers — 450 at each of its two new stores in Chicago — ranging from managers to meat cutters to cake decorators.
Applications open Wednesday at MarianosFreshMarket.com (click on “Careers” and then click on “for store career paths”) for jobs at the Mariano’s at 3350 N. Western Avenue (Roscoe and Western). Mariano’s will call prospective candidates starting June 8.
The store is slated to open late this summer.
Applications for jobs at the second store, at 333 E. Benton Place in Lakeshore East, open June 27, with callbacks starting July 7. The Lakeshore East store is scheduled to open in early fall.
Each store will hire 16 salaried managers, with the rest a mixture of full- and part-time positions. Part-time workers become eligible for health-care coverage and other benefits after they have been employed for 18 consecutive months.
The company also is hiring at its Vernon Hills store, and is seeking store sites on Chicago’s South Side.
Mariano’s is owned by Roundy’s Supermarkets, a Milwaukee-based company whose CEO, Robert Mariano, is a Chicago native and former Dominick’s CEO.
“We plan to open 20 stores in the Chicago metro area in the next five years,” Mariano said. “I’m very excited.”
