Revised Southwest Airlines reward program to debut
Southwest Airlines Co. is on the verge of launching a revised Rapid Rewards program for frequent fliers.
The company’s new approach, slated for a March 1 start, encourages buying more expensive tickets, reduces rewards for short-haul flights and clearly targets business-class travelers.
In one key change, the airline now awards six, 10 or 12 points per dollar spent, depending on the ticket price.
Buying “Business Select” nets fliers 12 points per dollar spent.
