A new digital lab is coming to the northern end of Goose Island, occupying a 94,000-square-foot facility — thanks in part to a $70 million federal grant, according to Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s office.
No word yet when the Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute is set to move into the space.
“The new facility will be transformed into a space that students, researchers and manufacturers can work from - with a working manufacturing floor; designated instruction space for high school, vocational, community college and university students, as well as manufacturing professionals; and meeting and communication rooms,” the mayor’s office said in a statement Wednesday.
