Sears Holding Corp. is searching for tenants to sublease space at eight of its Sears or Kmart stores.
The Hoffman Estates-based retailer is advertising for tenants at Sears locations in Bloomingdale and Crystal Lake and Kmart locations in Homewood, Lansing, New Lenox, Rockford, Round Lake Beach and Tinley Park.
Sears hopes to find businesses willing to lease land either outside its buildings or to carve out space inside the current stores, said Howard Riefs, a Sears spokesman.
Although the retailer has closed poorly performing stores in recent years, Sears has no plans to close any of the locations, Riefs said.
