NEW YORK — Avon says Fred Hassan, its non-executive chairman, has resigned from the board in the direct seller’s latest management change.
Hassan had just become chairman at the start of the year, replacing the company’s longtime leader, Andrea Jung.
The makeup company said Friday that Doug Conant, a current director on Avon’s board and the former CEO of Campbell Soup Co., has replaced Hassan.
Avon Products Inc. is working to turn around its business, slashing jobs and exiting markets. Its CEO Sherilyn McCoy came on a year ago.
Avon says Hassan is leaving to spend more time on other professional commitments. He is also chairman of Bausch & Lomb, a managing director at private equity firm Warburg Pincus and on the board of Time Warner Inc.
