McDonald's October sales comparison up

November 9, 2009

OAK BROOK, Ill. -- McDonald's, the world's largest fast-food chain, said Monday that monthly sales growth was relatively flat in the U.S. but that was offset by stronger growth globally.

Sales in stores open at least 13 months edged down 0.1 percent in the U.S. in October. They rose 6.4 percent in Europe and 4.7 percent in Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa.

Demand for Dollar Menu items, premium Angus burgers and McCafe espresso-based coffees were strong in the U.S.

Oak Brook, Ill. McDonald's Corp. says total sales rose 10 percent globally, excluding the effect of the stronger dollar.
