Nordstrom Rack, the off-price division of retailer Nordstrom Inc., plans to open a store in the South Loop.
The company said Friday it will open a 36,000-square-foot Rack store within a retail complex planned at the northwest corner of Roosevelt and Canal. It said the opening will be in 2014.
The store will have street-level space within the proposed 230,000-square-foot center, called the Maxwell.
Seattle-based Nordstrom has four full-line and seven Rack stores in the Chicago area. The off-price operation carries goods at 50 percent to 60 percent off standard Nordstrom prices.
The Maxwell, owned by Bond Cos., is planned for a nearly full-block site that for years was the home of Chernin’s Shoes.
