Get going now, cast a wide net in seasonal job search

November 5, 2009

For those looking to land a seasonal job, here are tips from SnagAJob.com:

• Get going. While some employers began hiring in September and October, many are still in full-holiday hiring mode.

• Go back to where you've worked before. This is not the year to be selective about a seasonal job. If you've worked for a certain business before, check to see if the company will be hiring again. You will have an advantage over other applicants because your previous experience makes you easier to train.

• Broaden your search. Consider retail, but also other options, such as shippers, portrait studios and tax companies gearing up for tax season.

• Be positive. Three in 10 hiring manager survey respondents say having a positive attitude is the most important attribute a prospective seasonal hire can possess, while 27 percent cite previous experience.
