Judge tells BofA, Block 37 developer to get pedway

November 2, 2009

A Cook Co. Circuit judge on Monday deferred until Nov. 20 a decision on appointing a receiver to run the Block 37 construction project.

Judge Margaret Brennan refused to rule Monday on Bank of America’s request for a receiver. The bank has filed a foreclosure suit against developer, Joseph Freed & Associates LLC.

The judge urged the developer and the bank to agree in the meantime on funding for opening the pedway that runs beneath Block 37. The pedway is due to open Nov. 16, and Brennan said it is important to have it ready for holiday shoppers and the winter weather.
