Lee Enterprises, parent company of The Times of Northwest Indiana, is consolidating its newspaper design work to three regional centers in Munster, Madison, Wis., and Lincoln, Neb., according to the Lincoln (Neb.) Journal Star.
Currently, the Munster office designs pages for The Times, the Sioux City (Iowa) Journal, the Rapid City (S.D.) Journal, The Ledger Independent in Maysville, Ky., The Citizen in Auburn, N.Y., and other publications.
It is unknown how many positions will be added as a result of the changes. Times Publisher Bill Masterson did not return a message left for comment.
Newsroom employees across the chain have been informed of the move, which will eliminate several copy desk positions at some publications. The transition to the centers is expected to be complete by the end of 2014, according to jimromenesko.com.
