U. of I. reportedly plans Chicago-area manufacturing lab

Gov. Pat Quinn is expected to announce Wednesday during his State of the State address that the University of Illinois is planning a new manufacturing lab likely to be built in the central Chicago area, according to a published report
The new facility will be built in partnership with its National Center for Supercomputing Applications and private companies, Crain’s Chicago Business reported.
Officials say the Illinois Manufacturing Lab will be seeded with $5 million from the state and $5 million raised from private firms.
